Concept of Organ Dysmorphia

“Organ Dysmorphia”, is an acrylic painting that primarily addresses the mental illness that is known for being called body dysmorphia. With this painting being inspired by Fuyuko Matsui who’s artwork is mainly centered on violence, loss, stress and trauma. Within her theme of violence I too added visual gore by using our different perspectives on organs.

Concept of Runaway Horse

“Runaway Horse”, is an abstract, acrylic on canvas painting. This piece captures the emotion of trying to run away from our own difficulties from situations but our own issues are always finding ways to catch up to us eventually. This piece will serve more or less as a reminder that if we overcome our fear and face our situations we wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences.

Concept of Tortuga

“Tortuga” is a realism scratchboard of a turtle. While this turtle is swimming away in the sea, I intended to have this to give off more of a smoother, relaxing feeling. I would like to have this composition to set a reminder for us that we should always set up breaks for ourselves.

About Me!

Artist Statement

I make paintings to express those different types of emotions or situations, whether they would be mine or from other people. My main goal in creating these types of paintings is to remind others that we can all have our dark pasts, but we can always start fresh. I usually send this message out through human characters, but I will also include animals. Another goal of mine includes making more of these emotion art pieces and I would like to create more so that my audience can relate to a theme or feel drawn to one. I enjoy having my paintings based on real human emotions because then I am able to connect more closely to any viewers. With my work, I make decisions by focusing on concepts I have in my mind and reflecting on which one would match the theme. I tend to make every element of my painting very serious and this includes the colors I use. For example, I will go into further detail in researching what meaning each color has and making sure it aligns perfectly with the scenario. I mainly tend to stick with traditional mediums for my art pieces and I enjoy using different techniques such as stippling, motion blur effects, fronttage, and as well with engraving.Through my work I am trying to challenge others to rethink about mental health and remind my viewers that we can all have similar struggles in life as human beings. I aim to create a reminder to others and create awareness with self-reflection both within individuals and in those around us.
